Tool and Die Maker

Tool and Die Makers analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Performs maintenance on tools and dies used in Production this also includes regrinding angles and radii
  • Makes spare parts, shims, etc. for tools and dies to ensure adequate supply is on hand
  • Interprets the die strip to identify problems with the die and effecting repairs to correct the problems
  • Performs basic die service including cleaning and checking all punches, inserts, die rails, crowders, liner pins, springs, and other components; repairs dies and die parts as warranted
  • Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner
  • Reports worn and broken conditions to the Tool and Die Maintenance Group Leaders
  • Maintains die maintenance records

  • Must have a basic understanding of the function and capabilities of the components of multislides, presses, sensor technology, and other production equipment
  • Ability to analyze, trouble shoot, and perform all die adjustments within production department
  • Must have a working knowledge of heat treating procedures and be able to operate furnace
  • Work well with minimal supervision

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus Associate’s Degree from a two-year college or technical school; 6 months to 2 years’ experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Ability to accurately complete mathematics functions and concepts such as probability/statistics/geometry/trigonometry and applying fractions/percentages/ratios/proportions
  • Ability to measure parts with calipers, micrometers, or various job specific gages

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $26.00 – $33.45 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Logansport, IN 46947: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Electrical discharge machining: 1 year (Preferred)
  • CNC: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Journeyman License (Preferred)
