***Due to anticipated growth, ABC Metals is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to serve and operate from our Indianapolis OR our Logansport facility.

The Inside Sales Representative delivers daily support of sales processes, providing timely quotations and part creation for ABC products, developing customer relations via positive interpersonal action and communications to clients, and professional promotion of the ABC brand message, products and services to the market place.

This position reports directly to the Inside Sales Manager.



  • Supports direct sales from ABC Metals to major “house account” customers, providing a 30-60-90-day FC of these key accounts, and tracks sales from month to month against customer sales goals as defined in the annual business plan
  • Develops effective and collegial interpersonal relationships with key decision makers inside customer organizations to facilitate communication and understanding between parties
  • Insure that house accounts receive attention on a regular basis and are visited (preferably) once annually
  • Effectively communicates the value proposition and benefits of ABC products, processes and services with key customers, target accounts and markets
  • Provides the “Voice of the Customer” by reporting and sharing key customer needs, wants and feedback to appropriate persons and departments of ABC Metals
  • Solicits orders and participates in the quotation process for customer RFQ’s and new work opportunities, providing important customer insights to Regional & Inside Sales Managers
  • Monitors and notifies Regional Sales Manager and Inside Sales Manager if customer payment terms and credit limits are exceeded, or out-of-contract
  • Assists with collection and maintenance of customer specifications and other key documents for RFQ bidding and PN creation
  • Assists the Quality Manager with the collection of quality related problem information.  Provides the customer service necessary to ensure replacement material is promptly processed
  • Assists with order entry and sales reporting (order backlog, sales lbs/$ data, customer trending data, etc.)
  • Maintains a work area in a state of order, cleanliness, and organization properly supporting effective execution of the job duties



  • Associate degree, or 5 years related experience preferred
  • Prior experience in customer service, inside sales or other sales-related functions
  • A person with high self-motivation and a record of self-managed activity
  • Exhibit a servant-hood mentality with empathy and sensitivity for documented customer requirements as well as undocumented (soft) needs
  • Does NOT have to be a metals expert but should know the basic differences between grades of steel, copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, and possesses some understanding of metal stamping, forming, and related manufacturing processes
  • Willing to travel at least / approximately 2-3 days per month, traveling by plane and/or car into various regions and neighborhoods of the USA. On some occasions, it may be asked to travel to Canada or Mexico, but this is per the individual’s discretion and not a firm requirement
  • Ability to work an average of 40-50 hours per week, and on some occasion even more during periods of significant travel
  • Trainable, coached, and able to receive guidance in new topics, tactics and skills
  • Ability to multitask to manage numerous projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Must be proficient at report writing, developing presentations, and communication
  • Analytical and computer skills are imperative for this position due to the need to access data and information about inventory, pricing, contract specs, terms, conditions, etc. Must be at least intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (email), Skype
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Bilingual language skills are highly preferred (English and Spanish)
