Manufacturing and Design Engineer

Summary

This position will draw, plan and design manufactured products and manufacturing processes at C.H. Ellis.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design of plastic molded cases and foam inserts
  • Develop and create Bill of Materials, drawings and specifications for the Production Department
  • Draw specifications and prints for raw materials, sub-assemblies and end products.
  • Design and build prototypes
  • Design jigs and fixtures for Production
  • Process deviations of all materials and products
  • Develop cost of all new products for pricing
  • Assist in manufacturing with technical information, specifically when problem solving
  • Research and develop new raw materials
  • Assign and log pattern, cutting die, drill-fixture, mold and punch die numbers with information sheets
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising the Maintenance department.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, preferably in an Engineering-related field and 3 years related experience.

 

Language Skills

Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, engineering specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Good English grammar and composition a must.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must also be able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages as well as to draw and interpret various types of graphical data such as bar graphs, line graphs, tables, and time lines. Must be able to manipulate large quantities of information and perform in depth analysis using spreadsheets. Trigonometry and advanced Algebra a plus.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office software, especially Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as AutoCAD Lt (preferred).
