Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.



  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives and coordinates with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Communicates to the management team of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities, and actions being taken to improve the situation, utilizing 8D format
  • Directs Lab Techs engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control of all inspection and quality requirements
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability
  • Investigates, creates, and communicates customer complaints to management and the customer
  • Weekly analyzes parts, conducts part testing, and operates metallurgical equipment
  • Creates and maintains instructions for lab equipment operation
  • Maintains calibrations, troubleshoots, and contacts service providers for lab equipment
  • Orders and maintains inventory for lab supplies
  • Maintains adherence to HTI safety policy, rules, and behaviors
  • Maintains awareness of and adherence to the HTI quality policy and procedures and their application to the Quality department as well as other departments and the company overall
  • Reports and analyzes all quality metrics
  • Communicates all information related to Quality to employees using verbal and written communication
  • Performs daily checks to assure high quality heat-treated product that conforms to CQI-9, and ISO9001 standards and customer specific requirements
  • The Quality Manager is responsible for creating, updating, and monitoring of all quality system documents
  • Must be able to travel to customer locations and speak to customer as necessary



Provides leadership/management of direct reports (Manufacturing Lab Technicians) and engagement across all shifts.



  • BS degree or equivalent experience (3-5 Years) related to engineering, manufacturing or quality
  • Formal metallurgical education and heat treat experience is desired, must be willing to attend seminars and/or classes
  • Experience in and understanding of the quality standard ISO9001:2015
  • Experience and/or understanding of the AIAG Core Tools (APQP/PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, 5-Y, Root Cause Analysis, and well versed in corrective action activities)
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • The ability to research, analyze, and interpret various types of data and articulate the results
  • Proficient knowledge in quality standards, internal auditing, and systems
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gages, fixtures, and hardness testers
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills

  • Metallurgical technology certificate, desired
  • Certified Internal Auditor for ISO9001, desired
