SUMMARY

The Quality Manager will plan, coordinate, and direct quality programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

The Quality Manager provides direct supervision to employees in the Quality Department and reports to the Plant Manager.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives; coordinate with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Communicates to the management team of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities, and actions being taken to improve the situation
  • Direct Lab Technicians engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control of all inspection and quality requirements
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability
  • Investigate, create and communicate customer complaint responses regarding quality to management and the customer
  • Create and maintain instructions for lab equipment operation
  • Maintain calibrations, troubleshoot, and contact service providers for lab equipment
  • Order and maintain inventory for lab supplies
  • Maintain adherence to HTI safety policy, rules and behaviors
  • Maintain awareness of and adherence to the HTI quality policy and procedures and their application
  • Report and analyze quality metrics
  • Perform all daily checks to assure high quality heat-treated products conforming to CQI-9 and ISO9001 standards and customer requirements
  • Create, update and monitor all quality documents
  • Travel to customer locations and speak to customers as necessary

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 to 5 years of related experience in engineering, manufacturing or quality preferred
  • Formal metallurgical education and heat treat experience is desired; must be willing to attend seminars and/or classes
  • Experience in and understanding of the quality standard ISO9001:2015
  • Experience and comprehension of the AIAG Core Tools (APQP/PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, 5-Y, Root Cause Analysis), and knowledgeable in corrective action activities
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures and regulations
  • The ability to research and analyze various types of data
  • Proficient knowledge in quality standards, internal auditing, and systems
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gages, and fixtures
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal coaching skills
  • Ability to fluently read, speak, write and understand the English language
  • Metallurgical technology certificate is desired
  • Certified Internal Auditor for ISO9001: 2015 desired
