OVERVIEW:

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality program designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of products consistent with established standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for overall quality of products released by the company.
  • Manages, directs and coaches the Quality team
  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary with the organization’s strategic direction, and its defined policies and goals
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation to assure customer standards are met
  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
  • Provides direction as to whether to accept a product or continue business with a supplier based on quality performance
  • Assures that the Quality team is equipped to lead problem solving efforts throughout the organization including structure, roles, skills and people
  • Oversees the deployment and use a standardized repeatable method to identify, document and fix current and potential problems utilizing Plex ERP system and the MPI Way problem solving approach
  • Assures proper QMS documentation is collected and maintained throughout the organization
  • Assure that problems and/or defects are fixed and not just reported
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant quality related issues or developments
  • Ensures an Internal Audit process is maintained and provides constructive feedback to management
  • Maintains working knowledge of government and industry quality standards (i.e. ISO and IATF) to ensure the organization is compliant

  • Proficient in the application and use of SPC and statistical analysis.
  • Working Knowledge of Plex ERP system, especially Control Plans, Problem Control and Control Charts
  • Proficient on MPI Way 5-step problem solving Process and associated tools (5-Why, Is/Is Not analysis, Capability Analysis, Control Charts, FMEA)
  • Must be able to use a PC with MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises employees in the Quality Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching, developing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical-related degree; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Computer literacy in basic programs required (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions
  • Understanding use and application of SPC and statistics
  • Process/product knowledge (stamping, metals distribution, heat treating) preferred
  • Proficient knowledge in quality standards of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 and their requirements
  • Experience and working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP/Control Plan, MSA, FMEA, SPC)
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in internal auditing and quality systems
  • Certified quality auditor preferred
  • Experience with Plex preferred
  • Automotive Experience preferred
  • Stamping/Metals distribution/heat treating experience preferred
