OVERVIEW:

Assembles metal products, such as automotive parts, partially or completely, working at a bench or on the shop floor by performing the following duties to time studied run rates. And or Load parts into furnace, sorts parts, clean parts from belts, wash pans, transfer parts from customer tubs to totes, housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

• Assembles various components manually and/or uses machines and fixtures provided for each application
• Points (mechanically adjusts) parts to specified dimensions, making certain that processed parts are kept separate from parts that have not been processed
• Sorts parts to remove foreign material and nonconforming parts from those that meet customer specifications and makes certain that those parts found acceptable are kept separate from those that are rejected
• Polices the work area to assure that it is kept clean and orderly at all times
• Inputs data collection information into the computer system
• Records part / component dimensional data for quality Statistical Process Control purposes and maintains related documentation
• Performs other duties as may be directed from time to time
• Loads parts on moving furnace belt per instructions
• Cleans parts by unloading conveyors using compressed air, water, or various hand tools as per instructions, written or verbal
• Sorts parts for foreign material by performing a visual inspection as per instructions, written or verbal
• Loads totes into the pan washer to remove grease and/or oil, as per oral or written instructions
• Transfers parts out of large tubs or wire containers into HTI totes
• Packs customer finished products
• Cleans, makes and fills “Heat Treat Bags”
• Performs general housekeeping duties as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Ability and desire to problem solve and carry out instructions
• Able to read, write and speak fluent English
• Ability to accurately complete basic mathematics functions
• Ability to measure parts with calipers, micrometers, or various job specific gages
• Ability to use shipping scales to weigh, count parts and apply adhesive labels to containers

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

• Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds; potentially need to move products up to 75 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to fumes and airborne particles
• Able to work consistently using hearing protection, around heavy mechanical machinery and often in hot temperatures
